“South Butovo / Dormitory district”
2011 site specific installation
Special project of the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art
Organizer National Center for Contemporary Art
The project is an interactive outdoor installation made of carriages for builders, that allow this object to become a natural part of the conventional housing system of dormitory districts, where all-out building activity is going on. This reflects the endeavor and aim of the artists – to build their own art world on the untouched and free from modern art territory and to address their works directly to the people living in one of the most distant from central museums and galleries Moscow district. All objects of the exhibition are created from available materials by artists who appear as a sort of “GastARTbeiters” in collaboration with citizens and organizations of the district .
